kInDeRgArTeN!

Today was Bracken's first day of Kindergarten.  Since his birthday is in October, he's been waiting a VERY LONG TIME for this.  He bought his backpack messenger bag in late July and has been SO anxious to use it.

Here are my big kids:
(notice Ema's dress from last year
You buy them all these new clothes and they pick their old ones to wear.  Hmph!)

Waiting in line with all the other fresh, new kindergartners.  Bracken had no issues leaving me.  (Not like the girl in front of him who was crying at this point. [really should've captured it on camera.] It was so sad to hear her cry and her mom was convincing her she's be just fine. . .)

Bracken at his new desk:
(Isn't he handsome?)

We're excited about a fun year of school.
Here are some highlights already (after only one day):
  • Bracken's teacher gives out green cards to the kids when they first arrive each day.  At his first meeting last week with his teacher, she explained that if she has to tell you not to do something you will get a yellow card.  If she tells you again, then she makes it an orange card.  And if she has to tell you AGAIN, you get a red card and then your mom is called.  This really made an impact on Bracken because that night he was saying our family prayer and he specifically prayed to "not get a yellow, an orange or a red card".
  • At this same meeting with his teacher, he told her that he had already picked out his school clothes and he was "prepared for the doom".
  • Bracken kept his green card ALL DAY today!
  • But, he did get a bloody nose right before school was out.  Lynette had to pick him up in the nurse's office.
  • The first outfit he picked out for school was his Avatar the Last Airbender t-shirt.  My kids are obsessed with the cartoon series and would watch it everyday (courtesy Netflix) if I let them.

See with all your time (while on bed rest) you can blog your little heart out!

Bracken is such a handsome Kindergartener. Ryker will be the same way with waiting forever to go to school. I would rather them be older in their grade than the youngest.
